I am a Certified Senior Career Counselor with over 22 years of experience working in a prestigious group of schools in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. As the Career Counselor in Charge, I successfully established and coordinated Career Guidance Activities for three schools following different syllabuses: CBSE, ICSE, and State. During these years, I have guided, motivated, and trained students for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in India, the US, the UK, and Australia, helping them navigate through life’s challenges.
I have accumulated more than 20000 hours of goal-oriented counseling experience, counseling approximately 1,200 students each year. My counseling interventions include assisting students during stressful times, setting goals, addressing relationship issues, tackling study problems, and facilitating behavior transformation and time management. I am fortunate to have a network of students thriving in leading multinational companies in India and abroad, living happy and successful lives.
I hold an MA in Social Work and an M.Phil in Education, both with good grades, and have extensive experience in the education and counseling sectors. Previously, I worked in the IT sector as a Center Sales and Administration Manager, as well as a mentor and trainer. This academic year, I have been serving as a Personal Interview Evaluator for undergraduate and postgraduate admissions at KREA University in Chennai, India. My motivation stems from my own career journey.
As a Career Counselor, I assist students and parents from the three schools in gathering information about careers, courses, and colleges in India and abroad. I help students with Statements of Purpose (SOPs), Letters of Recommendation (LORs), and guidance on the Common Application. Aptitude tests are also utilized to ensure success in their chosen fields. Through data-driven and goal-oriented counseling, I have successfully counseled 1,200 students annually. This includes providing support during stressful times, setting goals, addressing relationship issues, study problems, behavior transformation, and time management.
I qualified for the Civil Service Prelims but chose to focus on training civil service aspirants in general knowledge, current affairs, and group discussion techniques. During my time in this sector, I recognized the growing need for career counselors and mentors for school and college students. This realization led me to a leading school that offered the opportunity to develop a Career Counseling Center to meet the career needs of three schools.
As part of my role as a counselor, I often address relationship issues and provide guidance for work-life challenges, which can significantly impact students and their families.
