World Environment Day (Focus on Health & Pollution)

June 5 @ 10:00 am - June 15 @ 1:00 pm

Overview: World Environment Day, organized by the United Nations, is a global platform to address environmental challenges, with 2025 emphasizing the impact of urban pollution on human health. Devdoot’s event focuses on how air pollution, water contamination, and urban living contribute to respiratory issues (e.g., asthma, COPD) and other health concerns like cardiovascular disease. Through expert-led discussions, practical resources, and community action, we aim to empower individuals to protect their health and advocate for cleaner environments.

Objectives:

  • Educate participants on the health risks of urban pollution, including its effects on lung health, allergies, and chronic diseases.
  • Provide actionable strategies to reduce exposure to pollutants in daily life (e.g., home air quality, diet adjustments).
  • Promote sustainable practices to improve urban environments and personal well-being.
  • Strengthen Devdoot’s position as a leader in respiratory health education and advocacy.
    Activities:
  • Virtual Seminar (June 5, 6:30 PM–8:00 PM): A 90-minute live webinar featuring:
    • Keynote by a pulmonologist on pollution’s impact on respiratory and heart health.
    • Presentation by an environmental scientist on urban pollution sources (e.g., vehicle emissions, industrial waste).
    • Practical tips: Using air purifiers, choosing low-pollution routes for commuting, and incorporating anti-inflammatory foods.
Format: Streamed on Zoom and Devdoot’s website, with recordings available for 7 days post-event.
  • Interactive Q&A Session: A 30-minute live segment during the seminar where attendees can submit questions via chat to experts, including pulmonologists, environmentalists, and nutritionists.
  • Resource Toolkit (Free Download): A comprehensive PDF guide, including:
    • Checklist for improving indoor air quality (e.g., ventilation, plant-based air filters).
    • Dietary recommendations to combat pollution-related inflammation (e.g., omega-3-rich foods).
    • List of apps for monitoring local air quality (e.g., AQI trackers).
    • Available in English, Spanish, and Hindi to reach a diverse audience.
